The month
of February is dedicated to loving yourself down the scale.
When we
struggle with our weight we spend so much time hating our bodies and wanting to
swap out certain parts of our body for someone else’s. “”Give me J Lo’s Butt!”, “I wish I had her
legs” etc…
Love Yourself Down The Scale
Long term
weight mastery involves loving yourself down the scale. So often when we diet we just want to get the
weight off so that we can then and only then love ourselves. But unfortunately what usually happens is we
lose the weight and still do not feel good about ourselves..we get disappointed
and then gain back weight.
When I
struggled with my weight I used to believe that if I could only get thin-- my
legs would magically grow and become slender and graceful—like a supermodel’s
legs. Ha! Little did I know that when I got smaller my
body parts stayed pretty much the same shape—they just got smaller too. I had to learn to love my legs, my thighs and
calves for what they were and were always going to be. Once I embraced them in all their strong and
shapeliness I began to love them more than I could have if they magically
zapped into Heidi Klum’s gams.
Who Care About Heidi Klum’s Legs?
We need to
learn to accept and take ownership of our shape, our body and ourselves and any
weight. Then we can take back our power
from the internal limiting beliefs we developed and the absurd external messages
that we get from the outside world.
